🌿 Simple September: A Minimalist Reset
Feeling overwhelmed heading into fall? Discover how to simplify your life, budget, and digital space this September with these practical tips for a peaceful reset.
As summer fades and the school year (or busy season) ramps up, many of us feel the pull in two directions: more obligations… but also a craving for less. That’s why this September, I’m embracing a minimalist reset — not just in my home, but in my finances, schedule, and mindset.
If you’ve felt scattered, stretched, or stuck lately, this blog is your gentle nudge to pause and simplify. You don’t need to overhaul your life — just make a few intentional shifts that create peace, clarity, and breathing room before the holiday chaos begins.
🧘♀️ 1. Choose Peace Over Pressure
Minimalism isn’t about having less just for the sake of it — it’s about creating more space for what matters most.
This month, take a moment to ask:
- What’s weighing on me that I can let go of?
- What decisions (big or small) have been sitting on my heart that I’ve been avoiding?
- What would “peace” look like in my home, calendar, or budget?
Give yourself permission to opt out of unnecessary commitments, stressful spending habits, or cluttered expectations — even the ones you’ve placed on yourself.
🧾 2. Simplify Your Finances Before the Holidays
Before we get swept into pumpkin spice, gift lists, and Black Friday deals, September is the perfect time to reset your money habits.
Try these 5 simple shifts:
- Track your monthly spending — use a log that separates needs vs. wants to get clarity.
- Try a Peace Budget — create a budget with margin built in so you aren’t living paycheck to paycheck.
- Pause all autopay subscriptions — reassess whether you truly need them.
- Unsubscribe from sales emails — protect your peace and your wallet.
- Start a “Holiday Fund” — even $10/week between now and November makes a difference.
Even one of these can help you feel lighter and more in control this season.
📱 3. Unsubscribed & Unbothered: A Digital Declutter Challenge
This month, I’m challenging myself (and inviting you) to a Digital Declutter September:
- Unfollow accounts that drain your energy or encourage comparison.
- Clean out your inbox and unsubscribe from at least 10 marketing lists.
- Turn off social media notifications for the rest of the month.
- Use your phone’s focus or downtime feature after 8 p.m.
You’ll be amazed how much calmer your brain feels when you remove digital noise — and it often helps you make better financial choices, too.
🍂 4. Why I’m Choosing a Simpler Life This September
For me, September isn’t just about decluttering — it’s about realigning. I’m choosing:
- Intentional over impulsive.
- Peace over pressure.
- Purpose over perfection.
I want to head into the holidays feeling calm, not chaotic — and that starts now.
You don’t have to do it all. Just start with what feels kind and doable this week.
